Start your Rap Club
A Rap Club is a safe space for learners to explore, create and take ownership of their cultures. Authenticity. Community. Excellence.
Led by young creative professionals who are alumni from the Rap Club programme - bringing an authentic lived experience to their leadership - all clubs are vibrant celebrations of young creative excellence.
Our Core Locations
We lead official Rap Clubs in Birmingham and London and support others to run their own independently.
The majority of Clubs are in our core school partner schools within the Ark Music programme. We have also supported clubs further afield remotely.
What is a Rap Club?
Check out Our Impact page for more on our work, including videos of Rap Clubs in action.
Community
Young people in Rap Clubs join a positive, thriving community of their peers and mentors with lived experience.
Many schools embed the club in intervention programmes due to this sense of community and belonging the club brings, extending into their interactions across the school and within their local communities.
Skillset & Knowledge
We are proud to deliver one of the only Rap Curriculum programmes, developed with industry professionals.
This ensures all learning within the club is culturally responsive, modern, and develops skills specific to the art form. Knowledge and understanding around the culture - particularly local rap cultures and how they may influence behaviours - is also embedded.
Excellence
Excellence is embedded in all clubs. For those who don’t pursue careers in the creative industries, this instils professionalism, drive, and a range of other skills and mindsets applicable to their futures.
For those who aspire to creative careers, this is a proven career launchpad, with performances at the biggest locations in the UK and some now signed to major labels (e.g. Universal/Def Jam)
How do I get started?
We have a range of options for schools, youth clubs and similar. Reduced fee options for schools with significant FSM.
Weekly Clubs
Weekly Clubs - typically a commitment of 10 per term - led by a fully-trained Rap Club alumni. Embedded within your school ensemble or intervention programmes, with regular comms with the school team around pupil progress, safeguarding concerns and exams. Access to our wider programmes, including the Rap Club Conference, studio trips, concerts etc.
Workshops
One-off workshops that can run for a whole day, multiple days, assemblies or short sessions. A short taster. Often popular as part of in-school “culture days”.
One-to-One
We also provide one-to-one rap lessons. This is particularly useful for those who are using it as their subject specialism in Music courses and/or have career aspirations. This is a bespoke individualised programme of development.
Training
Teacher-Training and ongoing support for staff who are keen to run their own clubs in-house. Potential access to our wider programmes (including studio trips and the Rap Club Conference) and resources.
